White Light
Early rising, soft glows the clouded edge of morning,
A glint of crimson marks out horizon, slowly emerges;
Illumining frost crisp leaves, ice pinioned in chill air.
Yet sweet remains in winter’s cold dank earth –
Helleborus orientalis risen, blanched blooms pendant;
Held high above your circled crisp dark foliage,
To grasp the joy of spring warmth in five petaled perfection.
From winter’s darkened dreariness plucked,
Refreshed, by white petal gleam in cold driven marrow deep;
Brings joy resounding in soul and heart with thanks.
Here in growing early morning light is peace sublime;
Entranced by delicate petals transfixed, stand I –
Life made new, a praise, hope with silence adorned.
