Peace?

Clouds

Sunset clouds

Deep in the starkness – hard with stillness:
Chilled with the greyness of wilderness sky;
Longing and waiting to hear your sweet voice.

Gentle repast of the soul:
Granted in wonder by myriad stars in cloud streaked night;
Your words a silence – drawn in wakefulness.

A slow reverie guiding quiescence in bustling world:
Hush held beyond clamour; audible intonation of peace;
Soothing the strident in echoes of lingering desert.

The tumult repeating its tattoo of haste:
Drowned in barrenness as driven bustle:
Born in feverish distraction of mind.

So come I now from this race of imperatives:
With derelict mind stripped ragged by living;
Wearied by seeking; here to I find your abundance in leanness.

I marvel brim full at your gentle gift:
Incomprehensible your benefaction to senses;
From absence to glorious plenitude of grace.

Peace pure unbidden:
Sweet water of life in abundance;
Praise I now your wideness of grace.
