Night Singing

Whispers the breeze in the dark,
Star shine crisp in frosted grass,
Night singing marks the turning of the year,
Lingering long, clouds glint with moonshine.
Waiting for light, waiting for warmth,
Winter dampness, chills urging haste,
Yet paused for night singing,
Creation still, in deep leaf litter,
Fallen debris of summer abundance,
Ready to host spring growth,
Waits with anticipation,
Release in strengthening light,
Yet this is the season of night singing joy.
