Autumn Recollected

Soft amber light in mist strewn array,
Contrast  cornus carnadine stems shine:
Luminosity accentuated by conifer dark hue.

Flutter of crisp brown leaf,
Herald the fleet bounty of Autumn faded:
In ice rimmed chill.

All gathered all into winter’s drab garb,
To return Spring”s promise to cold earth;
That life’s future hope locked in snow.

Long dormant laid,
Might return in fresh green renewed;
With joy unalloyed, to praise lengthening days.
