Daffodil Dance
“Come dance with us!”
You call from the hedgerow:
“Come beat time for us ‘neath the old apple tree”.
“Come sing with us!”
You sparkle to all who stay – who would listen.
“Hidden we have been so long in chill earth:
We have waited to trumpet the spring!
Begone Gloom! – cold starkness of winter:
Dance we here – dance we will with your storm clouds:
Against greyness of day.
For in our brightness – oust we all dark shadow!
Our dance is for joy to life’s abundant profusion.
Cast we away heaviness of gloaming – pass you not by deep in dreariness:
Lift up your soul! For we are sweet life to you!
