Disgraceful
I have listened with care,
To all the myriad voices;
Proclaiming glorious youth.
So here is my intent, as I grow older –
When ques are long;
Functions incomprehensible,
Soothing platitudes, sting with deep intent to thwart –
I will demand my right to be heard:
Taken seriously, and given ages due.
I will not accept condescension; for truth.
So it is my right – I will wear unfashionable clothes;
Mismatched I will not take inane answers,
I will argue against every platitude.
I will converse with myself, when unheard –
Refused to give my name; to call centre script speakers;
Prove who I am, to cold calling strangers –
It is my right, I intend to grow old disgracefully.
