Long for Light
Slate cloud in lower hue draws on the the edge of winter day
Hard glint of chill hangs deep, driving dampness from stone
To shimmered frost crystal, stings breath
Drab garb of short days weighs heavy stealing into marrow and bone
Who walks the darkness without purpose
Seeking the memories of warm sun to drive away the gloom
Winter the burial season, washes in hardness glimps of cheer
The clamour of costly festive brightening hangs bleak and cold
In the blaze of jingles, looping for ever to blare out the message
Spend that you do not have, spend for it’s own sake
No need to feel happy just forget repayment.
Is this all – might there be more
Where has the joy – beauty fled
Is dark night storms the only chill home coming
Long for the Light
Dawn is closer than you think, never tire of seeking hope.
