Watching Weather
Leaden sky scatters rain drops
Wind dancing winds scatter leaves
I stand watching weather
Is this summer to be remembered
No long warm childhood days
So swift time flies as I recall languid times
Aged memory is fickle in the retelling
The Lark songs vanished from walks
The clifftops devoid of sparkling notes
So I search yet find no butterflies
Bees absence draws in the silence
No curlew calls brighten the heather
Yet is the absence noted in human drone
I pause in sad reverie of past days
I stand watching weather
Leaden sky scatters rain drops
Wind dancing winds scatter leaves
I hope in summer for future joys
