Rain Clouds
Soft the grey clouds in the mist of the morning;
Sweet fragrance of droplets on leaf and petal.
Swift scurries eddy’s of breeze, damping rock.
Glistening jewels chill and scatter.
Silently tumbled, as leaves bow incandescent;
Tock, tock grows the chatter, in raindrop flurries.
Birds hunker down, showering wings to preen glowing feathers,
Joyful turning crisp beech leaves mutter in circles,
Captured by root and stem glisten gilded bronze in half-light.
In silence once more, damp twigs hold clear pearls, mesmerised;
Lichen, glowing more precious than coins.
These are the treasures beyond price, caught up in cascading rainbows;
Dancing earthward bring pure joy in their promise.
Pause, listen in the stillness to the trickle of rivulets,
Gaze at their urge to seaward, in streams of laughter.
Rejoice, in bounty so freely bestowed.
