Surprise Encounter

Soft stillness of pine- serried ranked in coolness.

Hushing footfall in soft needle carpet.

Ever steepening slope – heart bursting,

In toil of root rutted path ever rising.

A pause, one moment, A heart stooped for the valley in summer array:

Surprised in the beauty beneath our feet,

When we had laboured for vantage point,

Now overtaken – joy in stillness.

Myriad hue of golden greens, far out to heat misted horizon;

The world rushing on unheeding of enclosed stillness.

Wrapped in love, acknowledge in tenderness unspoken, Enfolding all in joy.

Heart singing to heart – silent;

Beyond all understanding – profound in richness,

Startling thought; warming soul memory.

Forever meeting of minds – recognition.

A space – love filled – yet more this upward journey;

Continued brimming with happiness, dancing down the years.
