Tumbledown Stoat
Instinct drives your survival urge;
Determination over-rides prospect of injury.
No anthropomorphic characteristic do you call on:
Your accentuated senses paramount.
Stalking persistence, borne fruit,
Ultimate struggle, life force resistant.
Unprepared to loosen your grip:
The size of your quarry no matter.
Steep bank vegetation thickly clothed,
To unceremoniously tumbledown;
All muscles taut, you refuse to let go,
Teeth and claws embedded to the last.
Awe struck in our encounter, at you mastery;
Still, I stand silent, sharing your moment of strife.
In perfection, engrossed spectator;
I give thanks for your exertions.
