Winter Singing

Cold halo moon dimly shining,
Wrapped in cloud shroud.
Tints of fire burst sunset linger,
Stark skeletal branches, stand sentinel.
Chilled damp in the dying of the light,
Stilled the breeze.
Winter singing softly over fallen leaves,
Waiting frost touch to transform the drear.
Earth darkened, Autumn fullness decomposing,
Long nights meander paused – waiting.
Winter singing bids all to pause, praising,
Waiting for the turning of the season.
